Caltrans State Route 71 Project Will Require Full 55-Hour Weekend Closures on August 6 and 13

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is beginning work on a $4.2 million slab replacement project on State Route 71 (SR-71) in and near Chino and Chino Hills. The project will take place along SR-71 from the LA / San Bernardino County line near State Route 60 to just south of the Santa Ana Riverbed near the 71/91 connector.

Caltrans is implementing 55-hour weekend closures on August 6 and August 13 to perform the slab replacements along the two-lane corridor on both the northbound and southbound SR-71. Plan ahead and use alternate routes to avoid delays.

  • Northbound: Friday, August 6 beginning at 9:00 pm and ending on Monday, August 9 at 4:00 am. No through traffic. Be advised, southbound on and off-ramps will be opened for local traffic. Alternate route: NB 15 to WB 60/NB 15 to WB 91 to NB 57.
  • Southbound: Friday, August 13 beginning at 9:00 pm and ending on Monday, August 16 at 4:00 am. No through traffic. Be advised, northbound on and off-ramps will be opened for local traffic. Alternate route: SB 15 to EB 60/SB 71 to WB 60 to SB 57.

Weekday hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am nightly.

  • Lane and ramp closures with the possibility of full closures; alternative routes will be provided
  • California Highway Patrol will be on-site to assist with traffic concerns

The project is expected to be complete in the late Fall of 2021. Schedules can change due to inclement weather.
