On Monday, August 23, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration moved the Pfizer vaccine from emergency use approval to full approval for those ages 16 and older. The vaccine, known as the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, will now be named Comirnaty (koe-mir'-na-tee). The vaccine also continues to be available under emergency use authorization for individuals 12 through 15 years of age and for the administration of a third dose in certain immunocompromised individuals.
The City of Chino Hills continues to host free COVID-19 vaccination events in partnership with San Bernardino County every Tuesday through November from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the McCoy Equestrian & Recreation Center located at 14280 Peyton Drive. Both the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be offered. Appointments are not required to receive the vaccine and walk-ins are accepted at all County-run vaccine sites.
