The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) expanded booster dose eligibility for all individuals age 18 or older who received their first two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least six months ago, and anyone age 18 or older who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months after their one dose.
Individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster depending on advice from a health care provider, availability, or convenience. CDC’s recommendations allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.
