High school students looking to gain experience in local government are encouraged to apply to serve on the Chino Hills Parks and Recreation Commission by Friday, April 7. The Parks and Recreation Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm to review and discuss items relating to parks, recreation, trails, community events, wildlife preservation, and programs. Commissioners also work with community sports organizations and provide input to the design of park and recreation facilities.
The Commission includes a non-voting student member who must be a Chino Hills resident attending high school full-time. The student must be a junior or senior during the 2023/2024 school year and be in good academic standing. The student commissioner is appointed for a one-year term and will serve through April 30, 2024.
Applications are available online or in person at City Hall. Applications have also been provided to Ruben S. Ayala and Chino Hills High Schools. Completed applications must be submitted by 4:00 pm on Friday, April 7 to the City Clerk’s office on the second floor at City Hall. Mayor Peter Rogers will interview applicants and plans to recommend an appointment to the City Council at their April 25 Council Meeting.
