As you take precautions to protect your property from the storms, keep these Waste Tips in mind to keep Chino Hills clean and safe.
- If heavy rain is expected, set trash containers 8 to 10 inches away from the curb to create an area for gushing water to flow
- Place containers out by 6 a.m. the morning of collection, rather than the night before
- Do not overload your containers and keep lids securely closed to prevent trash from overflowing and clogging storm drains
- Do not place bulky items out for pickup if heavy rain is expected
- Remove and securely store containers promptly after collection as empty containers have a tendency to blow and wash away due to their light weight
- Remove debris, old lawn furniture, dead tree limbs, leaves, excess dirt, or other bulky items that could blow or wash away
- Limit the use of plastic bags - they have a tendency to blow into storm drains and cause major flooding during heavy rain
- Keep trash and litter out of the street to prevent storm drains from becoming clogged
