Trash Services
The City of Chino Hills contracts with Waste Management (WM) for all Trash, Recycling, and Organics collection services. Service with WM will begin July 1, 2022.
Trash Collection Days Remain The Same
Customers won’t be required to do anything different because trash collection service days have not changed. However, the service time may change on your collection day. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the Holiday Schedule.
Continue Using the Carts You Have Until They Are Replaced
Customers will need to continue to use their old carts until WM replaces them with the new ones. Simply place all three of your existing collection carts at least 3 feet apart and 3 feet away from any obstacles (trees, cars, mailboxes, etc.) at the curb the night before or by 6:00 am on your normal collection day and do not remove them until after 5:00 pm.
New Cart Delivery Schedule
WM will start delivering the new residential carts on July 11, 2022. It will take approximately ten weeks to deliver new carts to all WM customers in the City. See the cart delivery schedule or visit the WM Website for updates related to the transition or details on your trash collection service. For any additional questions you may have, call WM Customer Care at (800) 423-9986. We thank you in advance for your patience during this transition period.
If you have questions regarding your current residential or commercial trash services or to establish a new account, please contact WM Customer Care at (800) 423-9986.

New Billing Directly From WM
Currently, Chino Hills residential trash service is included on the City’s monthly utility bill along with your water and sewer service charges. Effective July 1, 2022, Chino Hills customers will be billed by WM directly for trash services and the service will no longer appear on the City's Utility Bill as a line item, offering one point of contact for both customer service and billing.
Online Bill Pay
If you are currently enrolled in the City’s online bill pay system and utilizing the auto pay and paperless billing features, you may take advantage of the same convenient online payment methods by signing up online at www.wm.com/MyAccount. You may also download the “My WM” mobile app from the Apple or Google Play store to manage your account from your mobile device.
The new residential rate for single-family homes with the standard service of three containers will be $26.25 effective July 1.
Additional trash, recycling, or organic carts may be ordered for an additional charge of $4.00 per cart, per month.
You can contact WM at (800) 423-9986 to order additional cart(s).
Service Days Remain The Same
WM will continue to service residential customers on their current service day. WM does not anticipate any route changes to your weekly residential waste and recycling services, however, service pick-up times may change.

New Carts
All single-family homes with individual cart service will receive new SB 1383 compliant waste and recycling carts. These new carts will have dark grey bodies with a BLACK LID for trash, a BLUE LID for recyclables, and a GREEN LID for organics.
Have your carts at the curb the night before or no later than 6:00 am on your collection day.
WM will begin replacing all residential carts on July 11, until then please continue to use your existing carts. The cart switch out will be accomplished in phases based on neighborhood location within the City.
Delivery of new carts will take place during your normal waste collection day. Please place your all 3 existing carts out on the curb for service as normal, the carts will be serviced and removed the same day. A different WM team will deliver your new carts and food waste pail on the same day. It will take WM nearly two months to deliver all the carts in the City. Please continue to use your existing carts until you receive your new WM carts.
Organics Recycling
Starting July 1, you will be required to recycle food scraps with your yard trimmings in your GREEN waste container. WM will also provide residential household accounts with a kitchen food waste pail to easily facilitate the transfer of food scraps to your organics waste container.
Recycling
WM provides recycling service weekly. The program provides one 95-gallon cart and requires you to separate your recyclables prior to collection day. Recycle Right

Other Ways to Dispose of Sharps
San Bernardino County residents can safely dispose of their used sharps in containers that they have created themselves at participating HHW locations.
The following are general guidelines for creating your own sharps disposal container:
- Containers must be 2 gallons or smaller made from heavy-duty plastic (Ex. Detergent bottles, bleach bottles). These containers must have the original screw-top that is also puncture resistant.
- Containers shall be puncture resistant and safe to transport which means that milk containers, water bottles, metal cans and glass containers are unapproved for use.
- Containers should not be leaking and the lid must be secured with tape.
- Two (2) biohazardous waste labels are required, one on front and one on back of the container. Residents can print their own biohazardous waste labels (PDF) or obtain them at participating HHW locations.
- Only needles, lancets and syringes shall be placed inside containers (no liquids, medications, gauze, etc.).
- Containers should be ¾ full.
View this guide (PDF) to learn more about how to properly create your own sharps disposal container.
