About Us
The Parks & Recreation Commission, an advisory board to the City Council, consists of five members nominated by individual City Council Members and appointed by a majority vote of the City Council. All Commissioners must be Chino Hills residents and are required to take an oath of office before commencing their term of office.
Also serving as a liaison to the Parks & Recreation Commission is one ex-officio member representing the Chino Valley Unified School District Board of Education and one student member selected by the City Council.
The Parks & Recreation Commission is appointed by the City Council to:
- Advises on all matters pertaining to the acquisition, development, and maintenance of public parks, recreational facilities, and open space as part of a sound Parks Master Plan in keeping with community needs and future growth.
- Review and advise on the financing of and budgeting for such functions, including but not limited to, the financing and budgeting for Parks and Recreation services.
- Advise on matters such as trail development, maintenance, and expansion; coordination and development of organized sports; wildlife preservation; coordination with the State Parks Department, and other matters assigned by the City Council.
Meeting Schedule
The Parks & Recreation Commission meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 14000 City Center Drive, in Chino Hills, unless otherwise noted. During the summer Concerts in the Park series, meetings are scheduled on the Thursday after the regularly scheduled meeting.
