Disclosure and Ethics
The Political Reform Act of 1974 requires public officials to disclose assets and income which may be materially affected by their official actions. The Act requires government agencies to ensure that their public officials (City Council and Commission Members; Employees and Consultants) disclose their interests on or before the statutory deadlines. The City Clerk is the Official Filing Officer for the City of Chino Hills, and is responsible for the collection, maintenance, and protection of disclosure documents. Additionally, the City Clerk is responsible to ensure that the public have access to the materials as prescribed by the California Fair Political Practices Commission.

In accordance with California Government Code Section 53234 (also referred to as AB 1234), all City of Chino Hills elected officials and appointed commission members are required to take two hours of State approved local ethics training. The City has also chosen to require all Department Heads, Manager, and Supervisory employees to adhere to the same regulations. The first certification is due within one year of taking office, and then every two years thereafter. Compliance is monitored by the Office of the City Clerk. Form 806 - Agency Report of Public Official Appointment
Form 806 is used to report additional compensation that public officials receive when appointing themselves to positions on committees, boards or commissions of a public agency. Each agency must post on its website a single Form 806 which lists all the paid appointed positions. When there is a change in compensation or a new appointment, the Form 806 is updated to reflect the change. The form will be updated promptly as changes occur.
